An IRA rollover allows people age 70-1/2 and older to reduce their taxable income by making a gift directly from their IRA to the parish.
BENEFITS OF AN IRA QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTION (QCD) a.k.a. a Rollover- Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $100,000 (annually) from your IRA to our parish
- Your gift counts as part of your annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) - for those age 73-1/2 or older
- Make a gift that is not subject to the deduction limits on charitable gifts
Even if you do not itemize your tax deductions, you may still benefit because this transfer does not generate taxable income or a tax deduction.
HOW AN IRA QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTION WORKS- Contact your IRA plan administrator about making a QCD to our parish
- Transfer your IRA funds directly through your administrator to our parish to help continue our important work.
- If you wish for your gift to be used for a specific purpose, please let us know
e.g. Parish Building Fund, DDF Annual Appeal, or specific ministry

Gifts of appreciated assets such as stock or securities may be transferred to the Diocese of San Bernardino for the benefit of The Holy Name of Jesus Parish. You may also designate this gift for special use, such as our Building Fund, our Diocesan Development Fund Goal (DDF), or to benefit a specific ministry.
These gifts provide the following possible tax benefits:
- A charitable deduction to help you save on taxes
- Bypass federal and state capital gains taxes
- Avoidance of the tax on net investment income
From a tax perspective, a gift of appreciated assets makes good sense. You may alleviate the capital gains taxes and achieve significant tax savings while furthering our mission.

After submitting your completed Stock Gift Form to the Diocese, please share a copy with us as well.
We will ensure that your gift of stock has been received and applied for the purposes you have designated. We will also acknowledge your generous gift!

Have you remembered your Holy Name of Jesus family in your estate plan?
A legacy plan and gift are thoughtful, prayer-filled ways to communicate how your Catholic faith can be passed on to the next generation.
